Associate Professor

I am a firm believer in the power of writing. Here at Jamestown Community College, I teach a variety of writing classes where I hope students can feel empowered by improving their writing skills at all levels. While I occasionally teach literature classes, I usually focus on writing, and have taught a range of classes which focus on different styles and types of writing.

Besides teaching, I am a writer myself. I primarily write poetry, and my poems have been published in numerous publications, which are listed below. My first chapbook, "Stealing Dust," was required reading at Clarion University of Pennsylvania and Bloomsburg University. My second chapbook, "Wearing Heels in the Rust Belt," was the winner of Main Street Rag's 2011 chapbook contest.

I have been awarded with a poetry fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts. I have also been honored with the President's Award for Excellence, and the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities.
