Borrow materials
We are an Empire State AcademicSHARE library. Therefore, AcademicSHARE Member libraries minimally agree to allow on-site access and lend materials to any current college student, staff, and/or faculty member from another Empire State AcademicShare member academic library. However, at minimum, a verifiable valid college I.D. is required. The library may choose to treat the college I.D. as confirmation the student/faculty member is in good standing. Other proof of identification or status may be required.

Research & reference
JCC’s LibGuides are subject, course, and research guides that include books, databases, media, and online resources:
- Introduction to Research: Includes links to JCC’s online catalog, databases, citation guides, and online sources.
- JCC Library LibAnswers: Find answers to your questions about the libraries. Search the existing FAQ collection or ask a new question about using the library, the libraries' collections, library services, and other college services.
- JCC Library Tutorials: Includes help with searching Primo and using the libraries' databases, including Credo Reference, EBSCO, and HRAF.
- Writing/Citing Assistance: Find guidance on proper writing techniques and citation style guidelines. Each library also has MLA, APA, and Chicago style guides for in-library use.
Students at North County Center
JCC students at North County Center can borrow media from the Hultquist Library in Jamestown, using the interlibrary loan form available on the first floor of the North County Center. The item requested will be shipped and you will be notified. When an item is due back, return it to the North County Center main office. You can keep photocopies of requested journal or magazine articles.
Students can also use the Reed Library at SUNY Fredonia. When at Reed, you will be required to present your JCC ID card with proof of current address. You will then be issued a Reed Library card, which will allow you to borrow materials in Reed Library's collection.
Additional resources for faculty
Library instruction
Library instruction is an excellent way to introduce students to the library and research tools for their area of study. A librarian can provide a customized session to meet the specific needs of your students, with an emphasis on library resources in your specific discipline.
- Schedule your class at least two weeks prior to the date on which you want to bring your students to the library.
- When you schedule your class, be prepared to provide your assignment and/or information on what students will be researching so that we can customize the class to include your specific needs.
- Inform your class in advance of the upcoming visit to the library and the assignment connected to that visit. For in-person sessions, have your class meet you in the library's classroom to make maximum use of time.
Instructors must be present during all library instruction sessions. Having you present adds to the session by:
- emphasizing the importance of the instruction;
- allowing you to contribute in ways that can encourage interaction and questions about the application of library resources, both in general and to your particular assignment; and
- providing you with information about new resources of which you may not be aware.
