Sport Management (A.A.S.)

Study sport management at JCC

The Sport Management A.A.S. degree at Jamestown Community College prepares you to enter the workforce immediately after graduation and pursue careers in recreation, youth sport, athletic administration, and fitness promotion.

While at JCC, you’ll take sport-related courses and electives based on your career goals. In addition to core courses in general education and sport management, you can focus on sport media, health science, fitness, coaching, personal training, nutrition, and athletic injuries. You’ll also complete an internship in a local educational, recreational, or health setting to gain real-world experience.

Sport management skills

After you complete the program, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of and appreciation for the role sport plays in our society and how that role is influenced by cultural traditions, social values, and psychosocial experiences.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the concepts related to ethical leadership with regard to the various skills, roles, and functions of sport managers.
  • Demonstrate a basic ability to function within a "real world" sport, recreation, or fitness setting (i.e. experiential activities).
