Digital Audio Production (Certificate)

Study digital audio production at JCC

Audio brings your creative project to life. At Jamestown Community College, you can complete a certificate in Digital Audio Production and use digital technology to create your own projects as well as audio for media consumed every day, such as film, television, video games, and radio.

JCC’s certificate program emphasizes courses in music technology and audio recording, rhetoric of sound, music theory and history, essential piano skills, and more. You’ll also develop a broad knowledge of the humanities, social sciences, and computer science so that you’ll have both hard and soft skills necessary to succeed in the workplace.

Our Mac computer lab and digital recording studio allow you to gain experience working with industry standard software to produce, edit, mix, and master professional quality multi-track recordings. You can apply these skills to your own music as well as a wide variety of other projects. Regardless of major, students interested in music technology and recording are encouraged to take a course or two and hone their skills in JCC’s music facilities.

The certificate prepares you for entry-level employment in digital audio production, or for transfer into a bachelor’s program in audio production or a related field. If you are currently employed in the field of audio recording, you can use the certificate to expand your skills. For a more comprehensive specialization, the certificate can also be completed in conjunction with the Music (A.S.) or Music Industry (A.S.) degrees, or with another degree, such as Media Arts.
