New Student Orientation
Congratulations on choosing Jamestown Community College. Your first year experience starts here.
Our New Student Orientation will help you transition into collegiate life at JCC. You'll meet current student leaders, administrators, staff, and faculty, and - best of all - other new students! Orientation includes sessions on popular topics such as how to use JCC technology, where your classes are, what student services and involvement opportunities are available to you, and understanding college policies. Attending orientation will also give you additional information on buying textbooks, as well as getting your student ID card, parking permits, and meal plans.
|Types of Orientation|
1. SOAR Days (Student Orientation, Advisement, and Registration)
A SOAR day is an all-in-one program. You will start by attending a New Student Orientation session, then complete the Advisement Preparation Session (APS) and schedule courses all on the same day. You may also register to take a placement test if needed. Space is limited at our SOAR days, so register early! If you have completed or will complete the online APS, you should not register for a SOAR day.
2. New Student Orientation
Learn about JCC from support services to common first year experiences and get a glimpse of college life during our New Student Orientation sessions. This session does not include advisement or registration for classes. You must schedule your advisement and registration separately.
3. Residence Life Orientation
Are you going to be living on campus? Plan to attend a mandatory Residence Life Orientation on the evening of Move In Day. There is no need to register for this session, and details for this event will be sent to you by the Residence Life office. You should still plan to attend a SOAR day or New Student Orientation session.
4. Online Orientation
Our online New Student Orientation is designed to provide you with much of the information you’ll need to be a successful student at JCC both inside the classroom and out. Online orientation is always available!
5. Parent Orientation
Parents, you are your students' partners to success in collegiate academics. We invite you to attend a Parent Orientation program with or without your student. You can choose to attend a different orientation date than your student if needed.
