Three Jayhawks Named NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week

JAMESTOWN – In the opening weekend of competition, three Jamestown Community College Jayhawks excelled in their respective sport which earned them each NJCAA Region 3 Player of the week recognition.

Women’s basketball freshman forward Nadara Odell (Dunkirk, N.Y./Dunkirk HS), men’s basketball redshirt-sophomore guard Isaac Allen (Houston, Texas/Texas Connection Academy), and freshman 141-poundTrenton Donahue (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Area HS) of the wrestling team were recognized for their accomplishments on the court and mat.

In two games played, Odell helped the Jayhawks to a 1-1 record on the season. During that span, Odell averaged 28.5 points, grabbed 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.5 percent from the floor.

In her collegiate debut, Odell netted 30 points in a narrow 111-102 defeat against No. 20 Lackawanna College on Saturday. Odell backed that game up with a double-double performance in an 85-77 win over Harcum College. Against the Bears, Odell scored 27 points while grabbing 10 rebounds (6 offense, 4 defense).

Allen started the season out scoring 28 points in a narrow 88-83 loss against Lackawanna College this past weekend. Allen went 11-for-16 from the floor while going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.

Allen also grabbed four rebounds (1 offense, 3 defense) to go along with two steals.

Donahue had a stellar collegiate debut against NCAA Division III Thiel College, picking up two victories on the day. Donahue, competing in the 141 pound weight class, picked up his first victory over Hunter Martz via fall. Donahue needed 5:45 in order to get the win.

In exhibition competition, Donahue faced Martz once again. In this match, Donahue came away with an 8-0 major decision.

This is the first time that Odell, Allen, and Donahue have received this honor for this season.
