Jamestown Community College's Center for Continuing Education will Host Training Sessions to Help Area Businesses Meet the Requirements Regarding OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard
The trainings will be held at JCC's North County Training Center in Dunkirk and on the Jamestown Campus.
OSHA's hazard communication standard, which has been updated, provides a common and coherent approach to classifying chemicals and communicating hazard information on labels and data sheets. OSHA requires that all employees fully understand the safety and health hazards of chemicals and processes with which they work to help protect themselves, their fellow employees and the citizens of nearby communities.
Hazard Communication for Supervisors, a four-hour training program in which supervisors will learn about OSHA and EPA regulations regarding the chemicals they work with, is offered from 8 a.m. to noon on either November 21, December 11, or December 19 in Jamestown; and from 8 a.m. to noon on either November 14 or December 4 in Dunkirk. The registration fee is $75 per person.
Participants will become familiar with safety data sheets, methods of observations to detect the presence of hazardous chemicals and labeling systems.
Members of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier receive a 15% discount on the classes.
JCC's Center for Continuing Education offers a variety of health and safety training options, available on-site, on campus or via distance learning.
To register, call JCC's Jamestown Center for Continuing Education at 716.338.1005 or the North County Training Center in Dunkirk at 716.363.6500.
