Campus Life

Campus Life Mission Statement:
The mission of Campus Life at JCC is to design and promote out of classroom opportunities, experiences, and services for students that will allow for academic, personal, and professional development. Collaborative campus life programming at JCC allows students to participate in a variety of co-curricular and social options which support the mission of the college, complement academic programs, and enhance a student’s overall educational experiences.

JCC prides itself on providing an environment conducive to learning and activities which are consistent with the objectives of an academic institution.  The campus life program on JCC's Cattaraugus County and Jamestown Campuses serves to enhance the quality of student life and the success of students through participation in social, cultural, educational, co-curricular, and recreational activities. Students who are involved in co-curricular activities excel in their studies and graduate at a higher rate than those who are not.

College isn't just about classrooms, books and libraries. College is also about making new friends, joining clubs, participating in activities, and taking chances on new experiences, as well as having fun. Get involved in Student Senate, student clubs and organizations, Campus Activity Board, athletics, intramurals and recreation, visual arts, and performing arts to enhance your educational experience at JCC and your future career.

The Campus Activity Board (CAB) and the College Program Committee are responsible for bringing activities (speakers, artists, musicians, etc.) to campus. The CAB is composed of only students while the College Program Committee is composed of both faculty and students. Being involved in campus activities is a way to extend your learning to outside of the classroom, and everyone is encouraged to participate. Your college experience is what you make of it; make it an exciting adventure by getting involved!

Activities
Clubs and organizations are strongly urged to sponsor activities on campus throughout the academic year. Procedures for use of college facilities are available in the campus life office.

Activity Hour
Each week the college sets aside specific activity periods during which few classes are scheduled. These “free” hours are 12 to 1:15 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. During these designated periods, students are encouraged to participate in the many activities available, including Student Senate meetings, student club meetings, intramurals, and special lectures and programs that are happening around the campuses.
