HVAC Essentials and Fundamentals Module 1

Students will have the opportunity to learn the theory and hands-on skills to gain the foundational knowledge of Hydronic and Forced Air Heating systems. The successful completion of the 75-hour HVAC module I course will allow and prepare students to take the more advanced 75-hour HVAC module II course. Topics include the following:

HVAC Essentials and Fundamentals Module 2

Students will have the opportunity to learn the theory and hands-on skills to gain the foundational knowledge of Air-Conditioning and Forced Air Heating systems. The successful completion of HVAC module II will allow and prepare students for an entry-level position in an HVAC career. Topics include a review of the following:

  • Section 608 EPA Universal Certification
  • Safety
  • HVAC Mathematics
  • Print Reading
  • Advanced Heat Gain Theory
  • Theory of Electricity – II
  • HVAC Distribution Systems
  • Air Conditioning Equipment
  • Temperature and Pressure
  • Basic Refrigerant Cycle

  • Troubleshooting of HVAC Equipment

Professional Development

Notary Public

This seminar prepares individuals for the NYS test and provides a comprehensive view of the notary public office. Confusing laws, concepts, and procedures are clarified in plain English. Examples are provided to illuminate situations that the officer is likely to encounter such as avoiding conflicts of interest, maintaining professional ethics and more. Tuition includes text. Please register at least 1 week prior to the class date.

EMT Refresher Course

Current or former NYS EMT (not MET) is eligible to take the refresher course regardless of how many years it’s been since your NYS EMT certification expired. Previous EMT’s may not enroll in an original course. Attendance at course sessions is based on challenge written test and challenge practical skill stations for those students selecting this option. All students who are active in EMS are encouraged to try and challenge. There will be a mandatory class for all students including those that challenge. 100% attendance is required for all students for any class session assigned.

Successful Supervision Certificate

Learn what it takes to become a more effective supervisor for your company and your team. Featuring five 2-day sessions, the Successful Supervision Certificate series will teach both new and experienced supervisors the skills they need to communicate effectively, motivate their teams, and become more effective leaders. This series consists of 70 hours of interactive training and skill building. Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion from Jamestown Community College.


Supervisory Success Skills  - 11/15 & 11/22                                                    2 days  ÷  14 hours

The key to becoming an effective supervisor is to understand the role of a supervisor and to learn skills necessary to fulfill that role. These sessions will discuss the foundational skills that supervisors need, various supervisory strategies, and challenges.

Legal Aspects of Supervision - 1/10 - 1/17                                                    2 days  ÷  14 hours

There are many federal and state laws that apply to supervisors and employers. Learn about the various government regulations and how to properly work with employees to minimize the company’s exposure to potential violations.

Team Building & Change Management  - 1/24 & 1/31                                  2 days  ÷  14 hours

A motivated team is crucial for a successful supervisor. Learn skills to keep employees enthused - even during uncertain times - and how to deal with conflict when it does arise. Strategies for understanding change and dealing with organizational change will be included.

Basic Bookkeeping

This course will provide overview and basic bookkeeping skills. Some of the topics covered will include the basics of recording, storing and retrieving of financial transactions for a company, nonprofit organization, or individual; billing for goods sold or services provided to clients; recording receipts from customers, and much more.

Good record keeping is important even before your first transaction occurs. It can save you time and helps you to claim all the deductions to which you’re entitled. You'll learn why good record keeping is important, what records to keep and for how long, benefits of different systems and procedures, tips for retaining good records, and much more.

Understanding Cash Flow for Business

Boost your confidence and focus on the techniques in understanding your business financial statements and your ability to guide and control your company's financial future! The business owner must manage their cash flow in order to stay successful and to keep the business solvent. This class will offer ways in which the cash flow can be used as a management tool. Other topics to be covered include how to analyze, modify, and project cash flow and other data available to assist the business owner with the preparation and analysis of cash flow.
