Learn what it takes to become a more effective supervisor for your company and your team. Featuring five 2-day sessions, the Successful Supervision Certificate series will teach both new and experienced supervisors the skills they need to communicate effectively, motivate their teams, and become more effective leaders. This series consists of 70 hours of interactive training and skill building. Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion from Jamestown Community College.
Leadership Skill Building 2 days | 14 hours
Successful supervisors need to manage their time and motivate their team to achieve company goals. These sessions will focus on understanding and leveraging different leadership & employee styles for maximum results.
Supervisory Success Skills 2 days | 14 hours
The key to becoming an effective supervisor is to understand the role of a supervisor and to learn skills necessary to fulfill that role. These sessions will discuss the foundational skills that supervisors need, various supervisory strategies, and challenges.
Effective Communication 2 days | 14 hours
Communication skills are essential success at all levels within an organization. Learn a variety of verbal and written skills to bet-ter communicate with team members, management, and clients.
Legal Aspects of Supervision 2 days | 14 hours
There are many federal and state laws that apply to supervisors and employers. Learn about the various government regula-tions and how to properly work with employees to minimize the company’s exposure to potential violations.
Team Building & Change Management 2 days | 14 hours
A motivated team is crucial for a successful supervisor. Learn skills to keep employees enthused - even during uncertain times - and how to deal with conflict when it does arise. Strategies for understanding change and dealing with organizational change will be included.
The course prepares students for a phlebotomy career within a hospital, blood donation center, doctor's office, or other institution. The course will cover blood collection, specimen processing and storage, professionalism in a clinical setting, communication skills, and clerical, courier, and reception duties. Includes lectures, hands-on laboratory practices, and a clinical rotation at a local medical facility. Held at Warren Forest Hi-Ed Council, 589 Hospital Dr., Warren, PA. No class Feb. 19, April 3
This 10-hour General Industry Outreach Training Program provides entry level general industry workers broad awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a general industry site. The training covers a variety of safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a general industry site. OSHA recommends this training as an orientation to occupational safety and health. Workers must receive additional training on hazards specific to their job. There will be a one hour lunch on your own.
The 10-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide entry level construction workers general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a construction site. The training covers a variety of construction safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a construction site. OSHA recommends this training as an orientation to occupational safety and health. Workers must receive additional training on hazards specific to their job. Instructional time must be a minimum of 10 hours. There will be a one hour lunch on your own.
Is designed for authorized employees (example: maintenance personnel) in safely locking out machinery to be repaired. Course modules include: what to lockout and why, devices and identification, electrical energy, pneumatic energy, hydraulic energy, gravity, momentum, and stored mechanical energy, special energy systems, multiple power systems, posted procedure and absolute testing.
EMT & Notary Public
Current or former NYS EMT (not MET) is eligible to take the refresher course regardless of how many years it’s been since your NYS EMT certification expired. Previous EMT’s may not enroll in an original course. Attendance at course sessions is based on challenge written test and challenge practical skill stations for those students selecting this option. All students who are active in EMS are encouraged to try and challenge. There will be a mandatory class for all students including those that challenge. 100% attendance is required for all students for any class session assigned. Deferment with BO after registration
This seminar prepares individuals for the NYS test and provides a comprehensive view of the notary public office. Confusing laws, concepts, and procedures are clarified in plain English. Examples are provided to illuminate situations that the officer is likely to encounter such as avoiding conflicts of interest, maintaining professional ethics and more. Tuition includes text. Please register at least 1 week prior to the class date.
Business & Record Keeping
Understanding your financial statements will help you manage your business and cash flows. Cash flows are the lifeblood of your business. Income does not necessarily mean cash. The cash and accrual basis of accounting each have advantages and disadvantages. Budgeting is a key component of managing your business. Using a 13 week rolling cash flow is a practical way to manage your day to day cash flow so you can react in real time.
Learn about the substantial savings available under the Qualified Business Income provisions of the new tax law. Understand how a conversion from an accrual to a cash basis of accounting could reap significant savings for your business in 2019. Explore the possibility of eliminating inventory from your tax reporting requirements. Finally, for any individuals in the construction industry and anyone who deals with long-term contract arrangements we will look at the advantages that can be gained by changing from percentage of completion accounting to completed contract accounting.
