Deborah Johnston, MS, RN

Senior Adjunct Instructor, Nursing

I have enjoyed being a registered nurse for over 38 years. I have always enjoyed teaching staff and patients, so it was a natural transition when I joined the faculty of JCC in 2009. My goal at JCC is to "make it real" for the students when they are working and learning in the simulation labs.

I have practiced nursing in a variety of areas during my career at WCA: cardiac step-down, ICU/CCU, emergency department, orthopedics, adult and adolescent mental health, and medical rehabilitation.

I strive to stay current on patient care and teaching along with simulation technology. I have taken the opportunity to attend conferences on simulation in Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Fort Lauderdale, Philadelphia, and Boise. I am a member of NLN (National League of Nurses), SSIH (Simulation Society in Healthcare), SSIH nursing group, INACSL (International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation in Learning), Sigma Theta Tau, and WNY Professional Nurses Association.

It is truly rewarding working with future nurses toward their educational goals using simulation. I would love to show you our simulation labs and equipment, so stop by for a tour!
