Students are provided with a basic knowledge of assistive devices and their use with diverse populations in a variety of practice settings. Students will be exposed to both low and high level technologies including the use of adaptive equipment, wheelchairs and positioning devices, computer modifications, and environmental adaptation. This course provides instruction in selection and modification of adaptive equipment and wheelchairs, and documentation. Students will learn how to educate clients on the use of the assistive devices necessary to improve their occupational performance. Prerequisite: OTA 1530 and OTA 1640 with a grade of C or better.
