Students will explore the diversity of women's experiences within the larger context of United States history from the colonial era to the present. Concepts of gender, power, race/ethnicity, and cultural identity will be considered alongside women's contributions to the political, economic, social, and cultural life of the nation. Special emphasis will be given to the diverse experiences of women of different races, ethnicities, social classes, regions, and ages, as seen through a variety of sources and media.
