Students will investigate the principles and applications of programmable logic controllers and how they are used in manufacturing automation. Students will learn the fundamental concepts of motors and motor controls. Topics include ladder diagrams, pilot devices, contactors, motor starters, motors, and other control devices. Upon completion, students will be able to properly select, connect, and troubleshoot motors and control circuits. Prerequisite: ELC 1200; Eligibility: MAT 1210 or higher. J occasionally. Students will learn about the programming and applications of a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This course will focus on program troubleshooting, hardware troubleshooting, data manipulation, math instructions, subroutines, and event-driven and time-driven sequences. Advanced topics such as HMI devised, PID, applications to robotics, data communications, and SCADA will be discussed. Prerequisite: ELC 1220. J spring. Master Course Syllabus
