This course explores the philosophical and socio-cultural roots of education. Students will also examine the political, economic, legal, and ethical basis of American education. Contemporary issues facing education will be examined within the context of teachers, students, schools, and curriculum. Students will also complete a 40 hour internship in a local school. A regularly scheduled on-campus seminar is part of the course. Students spend a minimum of 45 hours in their educational setting during the semester in addition to the seminar. Designed primarily for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a baccalaureate degree in teacher education. Prerequisite/Corequisite: EDU 2450.
