Hi, I’m Christina. I am a sophomore from Dunkirk, NY. Here at JCC, I’m majoring in music, and I hope that one day I will become a sound technician or possibly an actress! I’m also interested in traveling after I graduate. My interests and hobbies include jazz, musicals, history, anime, comic books, and movies (especially 80s and horror). When I’m not at JCC, you can find me at The Home Depot, where I work as a cashier. I wanted to become a peer mentor to meet new friends and to help others make the most of their time in college.

Hi, I’m Stephanie. I’m a sophomore from Erie, PA, and I’m studying in the pre-occupational therapy assistant program here at JCC. In the future I would love to explore opportunities in animal assisted therapy. Being involved on campus is very important to me. I am a member of Student Senate, Hall Council, Student Ambassadors, Newspaper Club, and Student Occupational Therapy Assistant Club. As you can probably guess, I enjoy working with animals in my free time, but I also enjoy sports and helping my community with events and fundraisers. I chose to become a peer mentor to share my life experiences and to help students become more involved on campus.

Hey, I’m Mike. I’m a non-traditional student from Frewsburg, NY. I’m majoring in human services and would like to further my education after JCC to obtain a master’s degree in social work. When I’m not at school, I enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening, and working with pets. My background prior to coming to JCC is pretty diverse, to say the least! I was a U.S. Army ranger, truck driver, and even commercial crabber! My life experiences have taught me a lot and I feel that being a peer mentor allows me to help students gain knowledge from their own lives. My goal is help students realize their individual potential while encouraging and motivating them to accomplish their future goals.

Hi, I’m Ashley! I’m a sophomore from Jamestown, NY majoring in liberal arts & sciences: humanities. My goal for the future is to complete my bachelor’s degree and become a storyboard artist and writer. Outside of the classroom, I am the president of Anime Club here at JCC. Being the leader of this club is a lot of work, but it has been one of the best experiences of my life! At home, I love creating art, making jewelry, writing, playing video games, and just being nerdy! As a peer mentor, I would like to share my passion for “enjoying the ride” while at JCC. I would also like to help students be the best they can while they are here, because I truly believe that support from others is the most beneficial factor in creating a foundation for success.

Hello! I’m Allene. I’m a non-traditional student from Westfield, New York majoring in human services. My career goal is to be a counselor for veterans with PTSD. This year I was elected as the student trustee for JCC and I am honored to be in this position. I also serve on the college’s Planning Advisory Council and work in the counseling center on the Jamestown Campus. At home, I love camping, reading, music, walking, and bicycling. I became a peer mentor because I want to give back and help motivate other non-traditional students to be successful at JCC.

Hello! My name is Alexa. I’m a sophomore from Allegany, NY. I’m majoring in social sciences, and I am in the Honors Program. After JCC, I am transferring to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford to get my human relations degree. I want to get a master’s degree in social work. Over the summer I worked at Camp New Horizons, a day camp for children with emotional and behavioral disorders. This helped me realize that in the end, I want to work with children in some way. Along with Peer2Peer, I work at the business office, and I am a member of Student Ambassadors. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, watching TV, reading, and spending time with my family. I got involved with Peer2Peer because I love helping people and I wanted to show fellow students that they have the ability to do anything that they want.

When I’m not studying hard for my classes, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two Pembroke Welsh Corgis! Becoming a peer mentor for me is a great opportunity to help new students transition smoothly into college life. I’m all about helping people!
