Personal counseling is:
- A student meeting with a trained counselor.
- A positive step to help you resolve a problem.
- An educational opportunity to learn and understand yourself more fully as an individual.
- An opportunity to eliminate barriers that may be interfering with your success at JCC.
How often have you heard, “College is the time of your life!”? Although, this may be true for some students, college can also be very overwhelming for students. So if you are starting to feel like things are getting more difficult to manage and just want someone to talk to about your concerns…. Consider making an appointment with a JCC Counselor. We can help you to identify the area of concern, provide you with related education/information, suggest techniques to help you, and if appropriate, help you to find services in the community to meet your individual needs.
There are numerous self-assessments that are available on the web. A self-assessment requires you to answer a variety of questions about a specific topic (e.g., alcohol use, eating habits). It is important to recognize the complexity of problems such as alcohol abuse, depression, or anxiety. As such, the self-assessment should be viewed as one tool that can be used to determine the severity of a problem behavior.
