ENT 7001 Small Business Marketing
This course will provide the student an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed by the small business owner to identify potential customers, define target markets, and plan appropriate promotional strategies. Other issues to be discussed will include the relationship between personal image, professionalism, and customer confidence, as well as how entrepreneurial marketing can add value to any size company. Eligibility: ENG 1530.
ENT 7002 New Venture Startup
This course will provide the student an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills concerning the starting of a business, managing a business and growing a business. This includes a determination of the legal structure, and management style appropriate for a proposed new business. The legal issues surrounding the creation of a business, including the organizational form, contracts, intellectual property rights, government regulation, hiring practices, laws related to employment and other human resource issues will be covered/discussed. Moreover, the process of management, its concepts, behaviors, and practices as appropriate/applies to small business will be reviewed. Prerequisite: BUS 7000; Eligibility: ENG 1530.
ENT 7003 Financial Management - Small Business
This course examines basic accounting practices and tax issues, with emphasis on applications for small businesses. Topics include the purpose, design, and use of various financial documents; costs and inventory controls; the creation and use of financial statements; tax liability and consequences; form of revenue, costs, depreciation, and investments; daily operations and tax planning. Emphasis will be given to planning and managing assets, budgeting and control, debt versus equity financing, managing short and long term funds, capital budgeting techniques, and cost of capital to the firm.
Prerequisite: BUS 7000; Eligibility ENG 1530.
