Chautauqua Institution

Responsible for designing and implementing HR policies and programs, and managing all aspects of employee relations and development. The incumbent oversees and directs staff recruiting, development, performance management, training and employee counseling services; plus provides operational and strategic input to Chautauqua's total rewards (compensation and benefits program). The director leads the design and implementation of the strategic human resource plan, supporting achievement of organizational goals and objectives. S/he participates as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and acts as a resourceful strategic business partner with excellent communication and leadership skills; supports all human resource needs throughout the organization as a trusted advisor and thought teacher. The director assists in and supports the transformation of the organization to a values-driven, entrepreneurial and collaborative team culture in a dynamic organizational landscape. 


Must possess at least 10+ years' experience in broad functional areas of Human Resources - Training/Organizational Development, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Total Rewards (compensation and benefits), strategy development, and Labor/Regulatory Compliance with at least 3 years as a department leader responsible for setting strategy to support business outcomes. 

Must possess excellent integrity and respect for confidentiality, along with excellent communication skills, presentation skills, and attention to detail. Additionally must have demonstrated working knowledge of strategic planning, succession planning, and budget development.
