Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition

Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition

April 25 through May 8, 2014
Opening Reception on Thursday, April 24, 6-8 p.m.

Each year the Weeks Gallery at Jamestown Community College presents the JCC Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition. This is a professionally juried exhibition, featuring works from all JCC campuses and includes painting, drawing and prints, photography, 2D - 3D works, ceramics, and new media. All students enrolled in a JCC art class during the academic year are eligible to submit artwork.

The 2014 exhibition held its opening reception and awards ceremony on April 24. This year’s juror was Judy Barie. Barie is the Director of Galleries for the Visual Arts at Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua, NY. She completed her BFA at West Virginia University and did her post-graduate work in printmaking at Atelier 17, Paris, France. Barie is also a professional artist represented by galleries in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New York. Her work is included in several permanent collections across the United States. As a painter, Judy states “…painting is an intimate self-involved craft, a gestural marriage of materials. The resulting abstract compositions highlight my pure love of paint.” Barie currently splits her time between Pittsburgh, PA and Chautauqua, NY.
