Important Points
  • Ground and flight instruction are currently offered at Prior Aviation and Rochester Air Center.
  • While the Private Pilot rating is not required as part of the degree program, students will still need to complete this rating as part of the FAA requirements to continue with flight training. Students will be expected to possess this rating before starting in our program.
  • At least 1 credit under Electives must be Liberal Arts & Sciences specific.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the aeronautical knowledge required to successfully pass the FAA Commercial Pilot Written Exam.
  2. Demonstrate flight skills necessary to successfully pass the FAA Commercial Pilot Practical Test ASEL (Airplane Single Engine Land).
  3. Analyze and respond to the questions “is it safe?”, “is it legal?”, and “is it smart?” when making decisions involving flight. 
  4. Demonstrate the ability to explain private and commercial knowledge and flight maneuvers to potential students in a way that allows them to successfully pass the FAA Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI), Flight Instructor Airplane (FIA), and Certified Flight Instructor Airplane Practical Test, OR demonstrate flight skills necessary to successfully pass the FAA Multiengine Practical Test.
