Important Points for Progression
  • All nursing courses have prerequisites and corequisites for progression. Students should consult nursing faculty advisors to be certain they have a plan to meet progression requirements. If you do not meet prerequisites, you cannot take the course.
  • BIO 2510: Anatomy and Physiology I must be completed with a minimum grade of “C” prior to taking NUR 1520. Students in NUR 1510 may not progress to NUR 1520 with a grade lower than a “C.” If these requirements are not met, students will be administratively dropped from the nursing program and will be required to reapply for admission.
  • BIO 2520: Anatomy and Physiology II must be taken concurrently with or prior to NUR 1520 and must be completed with a minimum grade of “C”. Students in NUR 1520 may not progress to NUR 2510 with a grade lower than a “C.” If these requirements are not met, students will be administratively dropped from the nursing program and will be required to reapply for admission.
  • A minimum grade of “C” is required in each nursing course. A student will be permitted to repeat one nursing core course (NUR 1510, NUR 1520, NUR 2510, and NUR 2520) one time. Should the student be unsuccessful in repeating any core nursing course, he/she would be ineligible to continue in the nursing program.
  • NUR 2550: Pathophysiology I, NUR 2970: Health Assessment, and NUR 2510: Health Restoration and Maintenance I must be completed with a minimum “C” grade prior to taking NUR 2520: Health Restoration and Maintenance II.

A variety of course formats are available to meet individual student needs. Individual formats for part-time students may be developed with a nursing advisor. Students may take as few as one course at a time when completing the general education* courses.

Students intending to complete their degree requirements in four semesters may follow this suggested format. The two-year format is very rigorous.
