“Architectural Observations: Paintings by Hope Zaccagni” will be displayed in the Center Gallery on JCC’s Cattaraugus County Campus in Olean February 12 through May 7. The gallery is located on the second floor of College Center.
An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on February 12. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibition is sponsored by JCC and the Cattaraugus County Arts Council.
“Architectural Observations” is a gathering of five small series of paintings of buildings, spaces, and places.
According to Zaccagni, the subjects are areas that “we tend to pass by and perhaps not notice. The subjects are the neglected corners of buildings and the everyday, mundane places we see walking to work, driving to the store, or places we catch out of the corner of our eye as we rush by that are punctuated by a beam of sunlight or attract me because they are so out of place or so much in their place.”
Ms. Zaccagni graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. She is the 2D technician for the expanded media and drawing, painting, and photography divisions and an adjunct faculty member at The School of Art and Design, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday. The gallery is located on the second floor of College Center.
