Several Faculty Members Promoted

Several JCC faculty members were promoted at the start of the 2009-10 academic year.

Shannon Bessette, David Jeffery, Heather Panczykowski, and Sarah Tranum were promoted to associate professor. Marilyn Gerace, Cindy Hinz, and Tammy Smith were promoted to assistant professor.

Ms. Bessette, who teaches anthropology on the Jamestown Campus, earned a bachelor’s degree at Cornell University and a master’s degree at the University of Oklahoma. She joined JCC’s faculty in 2000.

Ms. Gerace teaches criminal justice on the Cattaraugus County Campus. She earned an associate’s degree at JCC, a bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Fredonia, and a master’s degree in criminal justice at Buffalo State College. She began teaching criminal justice and political science courses at JCC as an adjunct instructor in 2000.

Mrs. Hinz, who has taught business courses on the Cattaraugus County Campus since 2005, earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Virginia and an MBA in finance and accounting at St. Bonaventure University.

Jeffrey, a member of JCC’s computer science faculty since 2001, earned a bachelor’s degree at Penn State University, a master’s degree through Regis University, and Teaching in the Virtual Classroom certification through Fielding University.

Dr. Panczykowski, director of JCC’s OTA program, earned a bachelor’s degree at Keuka College, a master’s degree at SUNY Buffalo, and a doctorate in health science through Nova Southeastern University.

Ms. Smith, a counselor in the Counseling and Career Development Center on the Jamestown Campus, earned an associate’s degree at JCC, bachelor’s degree at SUNY Fredonia, a master’s degree at Old Dominion University, and Teaching in the Virtual Classroom certification through Fielding University.

Mrs. Tranum, who teaches in the occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program on the Jamestown Campus, earned an associate’s degree at Erie Community College, a bachelor’s degree at SUNY Buffalo, a master’s degree at Buffalo State College, and Teaching in the Virtual Classroom certification through Fielding University.
