The public is welcome to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the new science education center on JCC’s Jamestown Campus set for 4:30 p.m. on September 15 behind the Carnahan Center.
The 26,762 square foot facility is scheduled for completion by January 2011. JCC’s biology, biotechnology, chemistry, and geology programs will be relocated to the new building.
Classrooms, laboratories, and flexible learning spaces will be housed in the new environmentally friendly, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified building.
“JCC’s faculty, staff, and administration have a vision for our institution to become a center for excellence in the sciences and a leader in environmental stewardship, sustainability, and green design,” said JCC President Gregory T. DeCinque. “This will allow us to be a resource for the local community and an integral part of progressive science education and sustainability in the region.”
