JCC is hoping area residents will participate in an Arbor Day Foundation campaign.

By casting a vote for JCC at, JCC will be in a position to win $2,500 in trees. Individuals should register as “tree planters” at the website, which is maintained by the Arbor Day Foundation. The contest ends November 5.

The contest is open only to colleges and universities which received a Tree Campus USA designation from the Arbor Day Foundation in 2009. JCC, which earned the designation in 2009, is the first community college in New York to be named a Tree Campus USA college. The designation signifies a college's dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship.
