Student veterans at JCC’s Cattaraugus County Campus were recently presented with honor cords to be worn with their commencement regalia on May 20.

The red, white, and blue cords were bestowed by John Gordnier, president, and Lennard Everitt, treasurer, of Club Valor, JCC’s student-based veterans club.

Honored were: Amber Evans, A.A.S., Nursing; David Camden, A.A.S., Individual Studies; Ashley Englehardt, A.A.S, Human Services; Jason Everett, A.A.S., Nursing; John Gordnier, A.S., Business Administration; Richard Kavanagh, A.A.S. Business Administration and Entrepreneurship Certificate; Michael Lyons, A.A.S., Business Administration; and Frank Morlock, A.S. Human Services.

Club Valor serves as a resource for current or former veterans and students considering enlisting in the military. The student club is an approved Student Veterans of America (SVA) chapter. SVA’s mission is to “provide military veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and following graduation.”
