E-waste recycling will be conducted at JCC's Jamestown Campus from 9 a.m. to noon on May 14.

The event, coordinated by JCC's sustainability committee in cooperation with Regional Computer Recycling and Recovery, will be held in the parking lot near the Arts and Sciences Center, off James Ave.

The New York State Electronic Equipment Recycling & Reuse Act requires that electronics – which may contain hazardous waste elements such as lead solder, mercury, cadmium, and beryllium -- must be recycled in an environmentally sound manner.

Items accepted for recycling include circuit boards, cabling and wiring; typewriters; telecommunications equipment; audiovisual equipment; video game systems; cell phones, PDAs, and IPods; computer monitors and terminals; computers; scanners and ink cartridges; printers and fax machines; network equipment; keyboards; mice; and computer accessories.

Items that will not be accepted include any liquids and powders; air conditioners; dehumidifiers; refrigerators; kitchen and personal appliances; and fluorescent bulbs.
