JCC’s Career Advantage program will include a health information technology degree, beginning fall 2019.

Students in the health information technology degree program develop skills for careers in healthcare documentation/medical transcription, medical coding, insurance/billing, and health record management.

“Many adult students might be naturally inclined to find success in health information technology careers,” said Jeanne Johnston, who directs JCC’s health information technology and office technology programs.

“If you are you a team player, like a challenge, have compassion, and like to learn and communicate, an HIT career path is very rewarding,” said Mrs. Johnston. Students in the HIT program acquire a versatile, yet concentrated skill set, she added.

Career Advantage helps adults who are also balancing work and family commitments complete a college degree in two years. Career Advantage students attend classes one night a week, supplementing their classroom meetings with online instruction.

JCC also offers its business administration, early childhood education, and human services degree programs as part of Career Advantage.

Career Advantage is available at JCC’s Jamestown and Olean campuses and North County Center in Dunkirk.
