Theo Collins, a 2009 JCC graduate, delivered the keynote address at JCC’s 41st commencement in Olean and 67th commencement in Jamestown in May.

The ceremony honored, college-wide, 547 spring 2017 graduates, 142 December 2016 graduates, and 47 summer 2016 graduates. 

Marilyn A. Zagora, vice president of academic affairs, and Eileen J. Goodling, vice president of student development, presented the degree candidates. Degrees were presented by JCC President Cory L. Duckworth and Wally Huckno, chairperson of the JCC board of trustees.

Greetings were extended from the graduating class by Preston Ross, president of JCC’s Student Senate.

Huckno presented JCC Trustee Award in recognition of highest academic achievement in each degree area. Recipients included Siby Thomas of Warren, PA, Associate in Arts: Liberal Arts & Sciences: Social Sciences; Sarah Carey of Cuba, NY, Associate in Science: Biotechnology; Greta Gustafson of Frewsburg, Associate in Science: Media Arts; Andrew Hvizdzak of Little Valley, Associate in Science: Engineering Science; Kari Macomb-Gustafson of Sinclairville and Alycia Willoughby of Cassadaga, Associate in Science: Human Services; Kaylei Russell of Falconer, Associate in Science: Individual Studies; Hope Zielinski of Mayville, Associate in Science: Business-Business Administration; Heather Zimba of Cooperstown, Associate in Science: Environmental Science; Alexa Minard of Olean and Amber Niedermaier of Andover, Associate in Applied Science: Nursing; and Leah Ratterman of Springville, Associate in Applied Science: Occupational Therapy Assistant.

During the ceremony, the JCC Distinguished Alumnus Award was presented to Collins and David Leathers ’83.
