An article on the Southern Tier Advanced Manufacturing Center (STAMI) has been published in a recent issue of The Catalyst, journal of the National Council for Continuing Education & Training.

The article, “Cooperation Leads to Meeting Employment Needs,” was written by Jesse Gugino, director, and Michael Marvin, project manager of JCC's Center for Continuing Education, and details STAMI's efforts to address the shortage of skilled individuals available to meet the needs of regional manufacturers and the lack of machining instruction in area schools.

The cooperative efforts of STAMI began after several successful workforce training projects between training providers and businesses. Partners include Alfred State College, the Allegany-Limestone, Hinsdale, and Olean school districts, Cattaraugus Allegany BOCES, Cattaraugus Allegany Workforce Investment Board, Dresser Rand Company, JCC, and Napoleon Engineering. Training programs are available for secondary, post-secondary, and non-credit workforce certification students.
