Mike Giambruno is the head swimming and diving coach at Jamestown Community College, and was the assistant swimming and diving coach prior to that. His time at JCC has been marked by awards and accolades for the swimming and diving teams. The women's team was selected as Academic All-Americans for 2012, and was runner-up in both the North-East District and in Region III competitions. The men's team has been awarded the Region III Most Improved Team. At regionals in 2012, the men's and women's teams were awarded 53 individual team plaques, medals, and ribbons. Also in 2012, 12 athletes competed in the national championships at Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce, FL. Six of these athletes were selected as Swimming Coaches All-American and six others were selected as Swimming Coaches All-American Honorable Mentions. Giambruno was named the Region 3 and Northeast District coach of the year for 2012-2013.
Giambruno has competed in triathlon and open-water swimming for almost 20 years. He earned a place at the Short Course National Championships in Boca Raton (1986), and he and a teammate placed eighth in the Coors States National Duathlon Championships in Ontario, CA (1993). He was a swimming instructor in the United States Marine Corps for 15 years. Giambruno attended Central Texas College, is a retired US Marine, a triathlete, and an ex-golden gloves boxer.
