Jamestown Community College believes that education involves body and spirit as well as the mind. Students at JCC participate in athletics for a variety of reasons which gives each student-athlete an opportunity to take a real measure of herself and to pursue a goal of excellence through personal discipline, striving, and hard work.
This is the working mission statement of the Jamestown Community College Department of Athletics.
While each individual in the department and each team collectively strives to reach the goals inherent in that mission, it has never been achieved more clearly and more completely than it was by the 2006/2007 women’s basketball team under the direction of coach Keith Martin and Coach Travis Wells.
It was in that year that Alexis Carlson, Brianna Colburn, Danielle Reynolds, Jenny Brewer, Kristi Morrison, Torlanda Poindexter, Bryelle Cortright, Lacey Grove, Angela Pucciarelli, Giselle Lara, Molly Krauza, and Katie Landy became the first team in school history to garner Academic All American Team honors. Obtaining a collective GPA over 3.4 inclusive of every credit hour and every class taken.
On Sunday, November 1st at half time of the JCC Jayhawks Women’s 1pm basketball game against Niagara College of Canada, the 2006/2007 team was honored in a ceremony at the PHED Complex on the campus of Jamestown Community College.
