September, 2002 - Early Rehearsals
Performances of The Pajama Game ran November 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16 at 7:30 pm. The matinee was November 10, at 2:00 pm.
The Pajama Game is a masterful blend of memorable melodies and lighthearted romance, coupled with its antic sensibility that has earned enduring popularity with audiences. The setting is the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory, where Sid Sorokin, the new plant supervisor, (played by Dennis TeCulver) has developed a crush on Babe Williams, a union representative (played by Amanda Witmer.) Their romance rides a bumpy road as it occurs during a confrontation between the factory's management and the workers, who are demanding a 7-1/2 cent raise in their hourly pay. Running parallel to the main love story is the romance of a fanatically jealous time study man, Hines, (played by Garrett Matheron) and the plant president's secretary, Gladys (played by Elizabeth Billgren.) Musical selections featured in the play include "Hey There," "Steam Heat," and "Hernando's Hideaway."
Other cast members included: Adam Hughes, Kinsley Phillips, Ylsa Turnquist, Dorothy Seastedt, Jennifer Adams, Cassandra Bartholomew, Jillianne Dolce, Jackie Fried, Angelo Giuffre, Michael E. Kelly, Ryan Logan, Matthew Robinson, Kraig Robison, Sarah Andriaccio, Don "D.T." Thomas, Ashley Cox, Kristen Paduano, Savannah Alday, Kira Morningstar, and Dan Sheley.
This unconventional, fast-paced Broadway show with book by George Abbott and Richard Bissell, and music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, has been described as bright, brassy, and energetic.
