| What does Main Street have to offer me?
Main Street has student tutors to assist you with your
studies in nearly all disciplines. Tutors can review homework,
help you prepare for an exam, or provide assistance with
a writing assignment.
What resources are available at Main Street?
Main Street has copies of some current textbooks, reference
books, in addition to tutoring, calculators, workbooks,
a quiet study environment, and a staffed computer lab to
assist your learning needs.
- Do I have to make an appointment for tutoring?
- We ask that you do. That way, you will be guaranteed
someone will be there to help you! You can stop in to
make an appointment or simply call.
- What is the cost of Main Street?
- It's free for students of Jamestown Community College!
Help! I get so nervous before an exam I can't concentrate!
Main Street can supply you with information on test anxiety and ways to combat
or alleviate it. We also have information on note-taking skills, time management
techniques, textbook reading strategies, and test taking strategies. "I
think I have a test here."
Many professors require makeup exams to be taken at Main
Street. We keep them in a file and sign you in and out.
Please know your professor's name and our hours.
How can I become a tutor?
Applications are available at Main Street. Students must have at least
a B in the course they want to tutor, as well as a faculty reference. Tutors are
paid student assistant positions. |
