In the spring of 2003, Clint Baclawski photographed in Havana, Cuba, as part of Denis Defibaugh’s R.I.T. student workshops. Baclawski’s Cuban photographs depict the decay and beauty of the once wealthy and decadent city. The energy in the streets, the magnificent and enthusiastic people, the architecture, and the color, light, and atmosphere of the tropics are brought to life and celebrated in Clint’s photographs. “I can never give back the gift I received while photographing in Havana, Cuba in the spring of 2003. The Cubans are the kindest and most loving people I have ever met. Through my photographs, I want to show Americans the beauty and energy of the people, and the vibrant cultural life that is alive in this socialist country,” writes Clint Backlawski.

Clint Baclawski received his BFA in advertising/professional photographic illustration at the Rochester Institute of Technology, 2004 and is currently a graduate assistant in Bucknell University’s MFA program. He worked as a staff photographer for Windell’s Snowboard Camp, Mt Hood, Oregon; as an assistant for Denis Defibaugh, chair of the advertising program at RIT; as an assistant at the Maine Photographic Workshops for John Paul Caponigro and Ruth Adams; and as a gallery assistant for Danielle Goodyear, Williamsport, PA. He focuses on color photography (documentary and portraiture) and has exhibited at galleries in the Northeast – New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Maine.
