Teacher Programs and Resources: Through partnerships with the public schools and financial support from (COSER), administered by the Arts Council for Chautauqua County, we are developing curriculum for the local public schools using the resources found in our permanent collection.

Through the use of this curriculum, students will be able to:

• Explore art and artifacts from various historical periods and world cultures to discover the roles that art plays in the lives of people of a given time and place.

• Understand how the time and place influence the visual characteristic of the art work.

• Reflect on, interpret, and evaluate works of art, using the language of art criticism.

• Analyze and explain the social, cultural, psychological, and environmental dimensions of the visual arts.

These lessons meet the New York state standards for visual arts content, and are intended to promote diversity and global awareness. Lessons are available in .pdf format by clicking on the links to the left.
