Alumni Experience Success at Four-Year Colleges
Many of our student-athletes go on to have productive and accomplished careers at four-year institutions. Below are just a few examples of outstanding JCC athletes from the Jaguars men's basketball program who've experienced success at the next level:
- Ryan Carney, '12 (Olean, NY) - Ryan is currently a student-athlete at Buffalo State College and was a starting wide reciever for the football team, as well as a member of the men's basketball team. In football, he finished the year with 47 catches, 786 yards, and 4 touchdowns. In basketball, he finished with 5.3 ppg and 6 rpg. Most importantly, he finished last semester with a 3.26 GPA.
- Roland Szabo, '12 (Sopron, Hungary) - Roland is currently a student-athlete at Dillard University in New Orleans. Roland played a solid role on the men's basketball team at Dillard, as they made it to their conference championship game. He averaged 3 ppg and 3 rpg. Roland said that playing in the conference championship was a dream come true. Again, most importantly, he finished last semester with a 4.0 GPA.
- Kyle Clarke, '12 (Olean, NY) - Kyle is currently a student-athlete at D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY. He was a member of the men's basketball team this past season, finishing 2nd on the team in free throw shooting. Kyle finished the season strong, averaging 11 ppg, 3 rpg, and 3 apg over the last few games. Kyle also finished last semester with a 3.3 GPA.
- Michael Anderson, '12 (Indianapolis, IN) - Michael is currently a student-athlete at Holy Cross College in Indiana. He was a member of the men's basketball team this past season, although he played a limited roll on the team this year since he was coming off of ACL surgery the year before. Michael finished last semester with a 2.8 GPA.
Post-Season Honors for JCC Jaguar Women's Soccer Players (November 2011)
With their very successful 2011 season in the books, the Jaguars women's soccer team is now seeing some of it's members being recognized with individual honors.
Being named to the NJCAA Region 3 All-Region 1st Team were sophomore midfielder Emma Ylias (Perth, Australia) and sophomore defender Mary Mabon (Marion, NY). Named to All-Region 2nd Team was freshman forward Ashley Skelly (Fredonia, NY)
Ylias, Mabon, and Skelly were also named to 1st Team All-WNYAC (Western New York Athletic Conference).
Named to 2nd Team All-WNYAC were sophomore goalkeeper Autumn Woods (Allegany, NY) and freshman midfielder Jill Slawiak (Portville, NY).
The Jaguars finished the season with an overall record of 18-3. Their efforts helped claim the WNYAC championship and the Region 3B championship (the 1st of both in any sport for the Jaguar athletic department), as well as finishing 6th in the NJCAA National Tournament.
The team’s losses were to a Division 1 team (Monroe CC), the Region 3A Champion (Finger Lakes CC), and the NJCAA National Champion (Montgomery-Rockville CC).
Jaguar Women's Soccer team is headed to the NJCAA D3 National Tournament (October 2011)
The JCC Cattaraugus Campus team defeated Herkimer CC by a score of 1-0 on Saturday in the Region 3B Championship game hosted by Herkimer CC.
The Jaguars first game at Nationals, being hosted by Tompkins Cortland CC, will be Nov. 3rd vs. Montgomery College - Rockville from Rockville, Maryland.
Jaguars will play for Region 3B Championship (October 2011)
The #2 seed JCC Jaguar women's soccer team beat #7 Onondaga CC by a score of 3-1 Tuesday night at Bradner Stadium in Olean.
They now advance to the Region 3B Championship game vs #3 Herkimer CC this Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1:30 pm being hosted by Herkimer CC. The Region 3A Championship game will feature #1 Finger Lakes vs #4 Mohawk Valley at 11:00 am.
The winner of both games will advance to the NJCAA Division 3 National Championship being hosted by Tompkins Cortland CC Nov. 3-6.
Jaguars will face Onondaga CC for 3rd straight year in Region 3 playoffs (October 2011)
The JCC Cattaraugus Campus Women's Soccer was awarded the 2nd seed in the upcoming Region 3 Playoffs following their perfect 11-0 record during the Region 3 Division 3 regular season.
After receiving a first round bye, the Jaguars will host #7 Onondaga CC, who defeated #10 Genesee by a score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Onondaga.
