The National Comedy Center and Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum are currently looking for interns for its year-round program. This is a great opportunity to become involved with a non-profit organization with worldwide credibility, and also to gain real-life experiences and connections. This is an unpaid internship.

Each intern will have unique responsibilities and tasks based on the department they are working in, but a majority of all internships will be focused on organizing and operating various aspects of the 2017 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. This year’s festival will take place August 3-6 featuring Jim Gaffigan (additional comedians to be announced in coming months). Past festival performers include Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Lewis Black, Trevor Noah, Joan Rivers, Ellen DeGeneres, Paula Poundstone, Kathleen Madigan, Nick Offerman, Ray Romano, Bob Newhart, The Smothers Brothers and more than 100 other comedic artists.

Interns will also assist with day-to-day operations at the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum. The Lucy Desi Museum is open seven days a week, and features replica sets, Lucille Ball’s Emmy awards, props, costumes, and rare memorabilia from I Love Lucy. Tripling in size in 2006, the mission of the museum is to preserve the legacy of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and enrich the world through the healing powers of laughter through its commitment to developing the comedic arts.

  • Intern must be able to commit to 20 hours from approximately the beginning of May through the week after the 2017 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival concludes (hours are flexible and can be scheduled accordingly)
  • Must be pursuing a career in communications, graphic design, marketing, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of photo and video editing is highly preferred
  • Must be a strong writer and communicator
  • It's pretty hard not to have a sense of humor, but it goes without saying that having a sense of humor is pretty important for us too!
  • Assist in planning and developing news releases, as well as tracking coverage received
  • Assist in designing and distributing flyers, graphics, posters and other marketing materials as needed
  • Arrange promotional opportunities and comedian interviews with different regional & national media outlets
  • Help update our social media presences
  • Gather and organize various multimedia assets
  • Assist in identifying key promotional opportunities throughout the area
  • Participate in comedy festival team meetings and activities
  • Other duties as appropriate and necessary
