Job Description: 

The Jamestown Jammers baseball team is seeking an intern who can attract followers and fans via social media marketing, public relations, and game-day reporting. Interns will learn the fast-paced industries of media relations, journalism and e-journalism, social media marketing, and game-day operations of a sports enterprise. With oversight from our staff, interns will hone skills in reporting, writing, photography, editing, and public speaking. A highly professional level of customer interaction, both in person and online, will be carried out through the season.


Applicants must currently be enrolled in school. Majors related to communications, journalism, public relations, media, marketing, advertising, English, and creative writing are encouraged to apply.

Applicants should have a passion for media and PR, social media, photography, and baseball. Applicants should also demonstrate computer and smart phone skills and be active on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.


Intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Post highly engaging and targeted content regularly on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Attend all home games, and post pregame photos, in-game updates and fan photos, and game recaps
  • Increase targeted fans and followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram daily 
  • Engage with fans regularly 
  • Get fans and prospective fans from various platforms to sign up for e-mail list 
  • Periodically run contests on Facebook
  • Convert fans and followers into paying customers 
  • Build relationships with influential and relevant local businesses on Facebook and Twitter 
  • Shoot and edit pictures and video in a timely manner
  • Research competitors' social media content online and emulate successful styles and campaigns 
  • Write attention-grabbing press releases and distribute to influential sources weekly
  • Work independently and efficiently
  • Attend Marketing and PR team meetings, which will be held remotely once a week
Hours per Week: 
20 hours/week
