Webb's Captain's Table, located on Chautauqua Lake in Mayville, is seeking a marketing communications intern for the summer season. The intern will acquire knowledge of the inner workings of the hospitality industry, while working through deadlines and learning the hierarchy of management positions from within a business.
Additionally, he or she will gain experience in the realm of both social media and traditional media for marketing and public relations purposes, as well as learning the general rules and formalities of business correspondence. If applicable, the intern will gain creative and/or professional work for their portfolio.
Applicant should have working knowledge of social media and trends related to growth, networking and retaining customers. Applicant should also demonstrate excellent verbal communication and writing skills and be highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills. Applicant must be able to work independently to deliver projects on time with a strong work ethic and handle multiple projects at once.
Knowledge of restaurant / service industry is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Apps (Doc, Cal, etc), and relevant social media is preferred. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat) and photography skills are a plus.
Students majoring in English, journalism, marketing communications, and public relations are encouraged to apply. Internship does not need to be completed for credit.
The intern will work directly with staff to execute a variety of media and event initiatives that help strengthen and elevate our brand. Intern will also provide support in the growth and maintenance of our brand image, both in print and online. Intern will also be required to report on emerging, relevant tech trends.
Intern will conduct research for media lists and press announcements, compile materials for use in a variety of in-house literature or online content, and compose and review press releases, blog posts, marketing content. Intern will also actively manage customer feedback, mentions, and other relevant news across media and social outlets, and establish and identity metrics that are scalable and measurable.
Additional responsibilities include assisting staff with event coordination, copywriting/editing, outreach to key media members, analyzing and summarizing trends, and general administrative support.
Flexible scheduling Monday through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
