Downtown Development Intern

Job Description: 

Jamestown Renaissance Corporation currently seeks an intern to assist with downtown development. Intern will learn how to apply the collection and interpretation of data in a real world environment where the information will be used to inform the development of effective strategies; develop interpersonal professional skills; and hone survey and database development skills.


Applicant should have an interest in planning and economic development, experience with database software (MS Access and Excel) and data collection, and good customer service rapport for face-to-face interactions with downtown stakeholders. Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) are required. Intern will have to drive as part of the placement.


Intern will assist staff in designing and populating an up-dateable inventory of downtown real estate, businesses, employees, and residents, as well as the survey tools and processes needed to keep the database up to date. Intern will also initiate data collection through direct outreach to downtown property and business owners, and conduct research on best practices in downtown business development and retention and identify implementation strategies tailored to conditions in Jamestown.
