Requirements: 

Students studying biotechnology or appropriate course work in Math and Sciences, biology, or biochemistry are encouraged to apply.

Required skills and knowledge:

  • Basic lab math and solution chemistry
  • Micropipeting and pipetting
  • Extraction of nucleic acids
  • Ability to troubleshoot techniques and plan ahead for experiments
Responsibilities: 

The JCC Biotech Program does research on several topics each year. Currently we perform research on cancer biology (specifically how chemokines and metalloproteases interact to promote or impede the progression of cancer), Lyme disease transmission, and mosquito evolution.

Interns will learn how to operate in a lab setting and become proficient in the basic technical skills used in the workplace. They learn time management, good teamwork, critical reasoning, and other skills valuable to employers in the allied fields of biotechnology.

Hours per Week: 
9-15 hours/week
