The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy is currently looking for an intern to provide administrative and office support. The administrative intern is responsible for providing administrative and office support to the CWC staff, with a focus on development. The intern at CWC will gain and expand/improve administrative skills, learn the ins and outs of how a not-for-profit organization works, gain insight into membership/outreach activities, and participate in the planning and implementation of various events.
Applicant should possess a strong work ethic and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Applicant should demonstrate strong writing, communications, and interpersonal skills, as well as proficient command of English grammar and spelling. Applicants with proficiency in MSOffice (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with Access, Publisher, and/or InDesign are encouraged to apply. An interest in nonprofits and environmental issues/conservation is helpful.
Intern will answer phone calls in a professional, friendly manner and direct them to the appropriate staff member. Intern will draft and send solicitation letters, acknowledgement letters, event invitations, and other correspondence to members, volunteers, and other parties. Intern will also draft ads, articles, and press releases for submission to a variety of media outlets such as print, radio and internet, as well as create brochures, fliers, and fact sheets. Intern will assist with the planning and implementation of various events, manage our social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) to communicate with supporters, volunteers, and the general public, and respond to donor inquiries and concerns via phone, email, mail, and social media. Intern will maintain the donor database with data entry and updates and complete other projects and general office duties as necessary.
Intern is needed for a minimum of 15 to 20 hours per week. Hours and start date are flexible. CWC offers a three-month and a six-month commitment duration.
