Before joining JCC in 2001, I taught US history and women's studies at Western Washington University for four years, as well as world history, American history, and political science at Skagit Valley Community College for two years, and colonial women's history at Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth for one year. My current teaching concentrations and interests are American history, world history, history of world religions, Native American history, history of food, women's history, and film history.

In the future, I hope to research and teach Atlantic studies, the Culture of Learning, and the History of Everyday Things. I have lived in many areas of the United States and Europe, including Minnesota, Ohio, Washington D.C., Virginia, Texas, Missouri, Arizona, Washington, and Western Germany, and have traveled to Canada, Mexico, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Japan.
