Course offerings vary by high school. Please check with your high school guidance counselor to determine which College Connections courses are offered at your school. All students must meet the course requirements below prior to registering for a College Connections course.

Eligibility for English & math

Eligibility for ENG 1510 (without supports)

  • Any student ranked in the top 10.00% of their class
  • Any student with an ACCUPLACER Reading score of 250+
  • (New for 2020-21 academic year) Any student with a PSAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 560+
  • Any student with an ACCUPLACER Reading score of 245-249 and at least one success indicator (see below)
    • Seniors who meet one of the following criteria:
      • An unweighted cumulative GPA of 80+ through the end of their junior year
      • An unweighted cumulative GPA of 75-79 at the end of their junior year and at least one success indicator (see below)
    • (New for 2020-21 academic year) Juniors or sophomores who meet one of the following criteria:
      • English 10 or 11 Quarter 2 grade of 90+ (or 85+ with teacher recommendation)
      • Global Studies II Quarter 2 grade of 90+ (or 85+ with teacher recommendation)

Success indicators for English:

  • Documentation of NYS Global Regents or American History & Government Regents score of 85+
  • 85+ final grade in 11th grade English
  • 3+ score on any AP exam
  • SAT reading score of 500+ or ACT reading score 21+

Students who do not meet any of the above requirements may take ENG 1510 with supports, which means they must be co-enrolled in ENG 0500: English Composition I Workshop with the same instructor.

Eligibility for math

Eligibility requirements for each math course are listed next to each course. Multiple measures are being used and students may use any one of the measures to qualify.

Students qualify for MAT 1600 or any math course listed if they meet any one of the following criteria:

  • (New for 2020-21 academic year) Algebra II course average of 80+ (either final or Q2 for 2019-2020 academic year)
  • (New for 2020-21 academic year) Algebra II Regents score of 80+
  • SAT math score of 530+
  • ACT math score of 23+
  • Passed either HS precalculus or calculus
    • In the case of a spring semester College Connections courses with a math testing requirement, the student is exempt from testing if they are currently enrolled in a full-year HS precalculus or calculus course

Items marked "(New for 2020-21 academic year)" are new for the 2020-2021 academic year. Due to COVID-19 closures in spring 2020 some additional measures have been added for the 2020-21 academic year. Some of these may change in future academic years.
