Become certified in addictions counseling

Be a part of the solution. At Jamestown Community College, you can position yourself to make a difference in the lives of those suffering from addiction and substance abuse by obtaining a certificate in addictions counseling and pursuing CASAC-TR credentialing.

Drug addiction and substance abuse are considered by many to be some of the most pressing public health issues facing our nation. In addition to the rapidly increasing physical dangers of overdose and death, drug abuse strains family bonds, friendships, and professional relationships.

The certificate enables professionals in related fields, such as nursing and criminal justice, to enhance their portfolio or pursue state certification as an addictions counselor. The A.S. degree prepares you for transfer to complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree in addictions counseling or related fields.

CASAC credentialing

If you are lacking CASAC hours and need to finish them, you can take just the courses that you need. Contact OASAS and submit your transcripts to request a deficiency of hours list.

The New York State Department of Labor Employment Prospects to 2020 forecasts “very favorable” employment prospects for the western region of New York state for substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselors.
