I am a native of Olean and a graduate of Olean High School. My educational and career pathway has taken me here and there and, in the end, back home. I attended Alfred University for two years before transferring to Texas A&M University for my bachelor's and master's degrees. I taught natural history for several years at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and then enrolled in a doctoral program at the University at Buffalo. My research there focused on the effects of acid precipitation (more commonly known as acid rain) on the chemistry and ecology of Cattaraugus County streams.
