December 2015

In light of recent events abroad, we want to reassure you that our office has been closely monitoring events in Europe and around the world. We would also like to provide some information about our work to safeguard our students abroad. Since the November incident in Paris, we have collaborated with colleagues across the State University of New York (SUNY) to confirm the safety of all of our students studying in Europe. We receive regular updates regarding current events and the SUNY administration has coordinated multiple conference calls among campus international offices to discuss campus responses and safety measures. All students studying abroad have been urged to exercise extra caution in public places, on public transportation, and in shopping malls, restaurants, and other popular tourist destinations.

The safety of our students abroad is of our utmost concern, and we will continue to monitor the media, as well as State Department notifications and warnings, to keep our students informed and advised about safety precautions. We plan to continue our study abroad programming without interruption while continuing to carefully monitor the situation. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions or concerns.
