Essential Reading Skills — 3104
ENG 0190 – 3 credits

Students will obtain the basic reading skills needed to begin working toward their educational objectives. Topics include word recognition skill work, vocabulary development, and the mastery of basic comprehension patterns in reading. Grading is credit/fail. Successful completion of ENG 0190 is equivalent to earning a 70 on the reading portion of the Accuplacer placement test. Prerequisite: admission by placement score. Master Course Syllabus

ENG 0410 – 3 credits

Students will develop more versatile reading and study skills such as greater speed and comprehension of varied reading materials, improved retention of subject matter, skimming, and scanning of textbooks and magazine articles, improved vocabulary and word recognition, and greater enjoyment and understanding of literature.
