Internships
An internship is a three-credit course in which the student works at the sponsoring organization for a total of 135 clock hours, including time at the sponsoring organization and time spent fulfilling academic requirements. Typically, the period may span 12 to 14 weeks for eight to ten hours each week.

The objectives of the internship are as follows:

  • to provide the student with a working/learning experience that is custom designed to fit the needs and interests of the student and of the internship sponsoring organization
  • to increase student opportunities for acquiring work experience related to a particular field of study
  • to increase awareness within community employers of the high quality of JCC’s programs and students

The program is intended for full-time sophomores who have at least a 2.0 average. Second semester freshmen and part-time students will be able to participate with special permission of the faculty sponsor. You can contact the Assistant Dean in the area that relates to your interest.

Resume Referral Service
The Counseling & Career Development Center (CCDC) houses a Resume Referral Service at no cost to both employers and JCC students and alumni. Students and alumni complete Resume Referral Service forms available at the CCDC and submit their resumes are filed into the specific career field folders the job seeker selects. When employers call to request resumes, those in the appropriate folder are forwarded to the potential employer.

When an employer contacts our office with a job opening, we will post the position on our Career Center Bulletin Board and on the JCC web site. Resumes of candidates can be faxed from our Resume Referral Service to employers for review. Employers then select which candidates they wish to call for interviews.
